from Rick Oltman - F.A.I.R.
Hilda Solis' SB371, that would give illegal aliens the chance to get a valid California Drivers License, was pulled from yesterday's Assembly Transportation Committee meeting in Sacramento to add amendments. The amendments have not been filed with the committee yet (as of Tuesday afternoon).
The next chance, and last chance under the rules, to have the bill scheduled to be heard is Monday, July 12th 1:30 pm. That is last Assembly Transportation Committee meeting before summer break. (Next Monday is out, July 5th is a holiday, that leaves the 12th) Summer Recess is from ~July 16th - August 16th.
To have the bill considered in August (or later) requires a trip to the Rules Committee, which shouldn't be problem, but that is the procedure.
After we see the amendments we'll know what we area dealing with. Until then, let's keep the pressure on, use talk radio and all the media to oppose giving illegal aliens access to drivers licenses.
